IN NEED OF POLITICAL CONSULTING: Please visit the Massachusetts-based, winning consulting firm http://www.TuesdayAssociates.com for all of your strategic planning, direct mail, research, fundraising and grassroots campaigning needs. DOMAIN NAMES FOR SALE: When http://www.ViningManagement.com was asked to build this site last year, they registered a large number of domain names related to the presidential candidates and Mass GOP as well as different variations of our URL. We have been receiving multiple offers as of late, and only have a few remaining, so if you are interested, please contact them for a list with purchase / transfer information as we do not need all of them. Friday, July 4, 2008 Happy Birthday America! Regular updates and new polls will resume later this month. Tuesday, May 13. 2008 While the Clinton campaign continues on, Obama's negatives and lack of experience are finally coming to light and a new candidate has entered the race... Who you ask? Former Georgia congressman and Republican Bob Barr who today announced that he will be seeking the presidency as a candidate of the Libertarian Party. It is bad enough that Congressman Ron Paul has yet to suspended his campaign against McCain for The White House but now add Barr into the mix...what gives guys? They may not be satisfied with our Party's choice...but given that we can have Republican McCain or Ultra Liberal Obama/Clinton - there's no contest! Saturday, April 5. 2008 Today, Mass Republicans caucus to elect delegates to the 2008 Republican National Convention beginning at 9:00 am. For specific information, please visit www.MassGOP.com or call 617-523-5005. Also, if you are interested in running for State Representative or State Senator (and we need people to run), the deadline for signatures is April 29, 2008. New polls will be posted later this week along with more information to The Obama Report. Tuesday, April 1, 2008 There is much to do about nothing and yet then again, there is so much going on with so little being done inside the MA GOP...oh, where does one even begin??? After loosing ALL recent special elections, one has to wonder where our Party is headed and why we are allowing ourselves to go down this path? We wish this were an April's Fool's hoax of a post, but it is not. Our State Party is headed in the wrong direction! Some, for their own gain, are intentionally repeating the major mistakes of the past right in front of our eyes. A couple of weeks back, at an uneventful Massachusetts Republican State Committee Meeting, the Party's leaders gathered together to reaffirm the Chairman and National Committee Man and Woman to another term in office. We would understand backing leaders who move our Party forward, but not those who would move us backward. We have always admired Peter Torkildson and do acknowledge his efforts. However, the "wrong crowd" if you will, orchestrated his victory last year and have continued to have a negative influence over his tenure as Chairman. One such person, is National Committeeman Ron Kaufman who suffered a major defeat when Mitt Romney's lost his bid for the oval office. Yet, he is still hanging on thanks to his connection (in-laws) to a certain former White House Chief of Staff who also happens to live in Massachusetts and is one of those names on the short list to run for Governor. What's at stake you may ask? Who the gubernatorial nominee will be in 2010. People desperate for power have recently been seen moving to support the potential candidate referenced above as well as a former MA Secretary of Administration and Finance as if there were no races that needed to be won in 2008. People like Kaufman and other Party leaders are willing to allow the Mass GOP to remain shattered and divided so that their wing can keep themselves in power. Let us remind you, this wing was responsible for the worst showing in recent history with their small field of candidates in 2002 and 2004. They lost the corner office in 2006 and then their candidate lost his bid for The White House several months ago. Now they are willing to have us to lose the US Senate race by propping up one candidate who should be running for Congress, while trashing the other Republican in the race. Why you may ask? It is about power! If outsider Jeff Beatty wins the nomination over insider Jim Ogonowski then the grassroots wing of the Party will have the better organization leading into the 2010 race for Governor. This is not something that Kaufman and crowd will stand for. Sadly Ogonowski, who was an excellent congressional candidate in 2007, is being served up as a sacrificial lamb as he could actually win one for the Party this year were he to run for congress again or even go for a State House or Senate seat. What a shame! Wednesday March 5, 2008 Republicans have their Nominee! Mike Huckabee graciously withdrew from the race after garnering a respectable showing and amassing the second largest amount of overall delegates. He basically had no choice, in the wake of John McCain clinching the requisite number of delegates to become the Republican nominee due to his sweep with victories in Ohio, Rhode Island, Texas and Vermont last night. President George W. Bush endorsed McCain at the White House this afternoon in support of the Party's new standard-bearer. Remember the Alamo? Following in her husband's footsteps, Hillary Clinton proved that she is the comeback mamma with sizable victories over Barack Obama in Ohio, Rhode Island and Texas. Though the delegate count is yet to be sorted out, Obama still has the lead; however, her victories combined with the new-found scrutiny of the voice without substance should enable her to beat him in most upcoming contests, eventually earning her the Democratic nomination. Special Election...future of Mass GOP Unfortunately, Republican John Worden lost to the 23-year-old vice chairman of the Arlington School Committee, Democrat Sean Garballey, for State Representative in the 23rd Middlesex District (Arlington, West Medford). Thank you to Town Moderator Worden for running. MRFT hopes that you will challenge the inexperienced Garballey in the Fall General Election in a rematch. Our Party has won many special elections in the past... This loss makes us wonder what the Massachusetts State GOP is actually doing? When MRFT Co-founder Ron Vining dropped out for the race for Chairman in January 2007, we supported Peter Torkildson; however, in just over one year's time, the MA GOP has done little to better itself. In the wake of abysmal defeats in 2006, this year is a critical time for our Party's future. It is MRFT's hope that the Massachusetts Republican State Committee members will rattle the cage of the Mass Republican State Party to ensure a viable two-party government in the Commonwealth. In the News... CNSNews.com interviewed MRFT Co-Founder Holly Robichaud last week for a story titled "Romney Betrayed Us, GOP Activists in Bay State Say" by Matt Purple. Some have been floating Mitt Romney's name around as a possible Vice Presidential pick for the McCain ticket. Most of us at MRFT do not feel that this would be a wise choice on McCain's part. Romney only recently adopted core Republican values during his run for The White House and one only needs to examine his record as Governor of Massachusetts and as failed leader of the Mass GOP between 2002-2006 to see that he would bring very little to the table. President McCain needs to select an individual who represents our values and will win key swing states. Romney provides neither. As suggested last month, Romney should take on the vulnerable John F. Kerry for senate this year. Saturday, March 1, 2008 Special Election Here is a chance to take one from the Democrats... Arlington Town Moderator John Worden is running for State Representative as a Republican in the 23rd Middlesex District (Arlington, West Medford). Please come out and support him on Tuesday, March 4th! Good News Did you hear? Ralph Nader's running and Michael Bloomberg is not!!! Friday, February 22, 2008 More Republicans need to be elected to the House and Senate in Massachusetts! In the coming days and weeks, MRFT will begin our efforts to encourage and support such candidates. This new page is the start of those efforts. Wednesday, February 20, 2008 John McCain's Straight Talk Express shows no signs of slowing down as it went full steam ahead with clear wins over Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul. Meanwhile Barack Obama's All Talk and No Substance Express racked up two more victories, forcing Hillary Clinton into a do or die situation on March 4th. What's the deal with Ann Coulter's latest rant about McCain and her call for Republicans to start getting ready for 2012??? Ann, please do yourself and the so-called conservatives you think you represent a favor, shut up already! Speaking of ridiculous sentiments, how about Michele Obama's statement in Milwaukee, Ah, hello...earth to Mrs. Obama, anyone home? Do you HONESTLY believe that this is the first time in your forty-five years that the greatest Nation, ever, accomplished something to make you proud? MRFT would be the first to cut her some slack if it were just a simple gaffe; however, the remark was in a written speech and it was not the first time she recited it before a live audience. The media have given her the opportunity to enlighten us as to why she said what she did, but so far, she has refused. With her Ivy League background one would think that she would be fully aware of her Country's awesome legacy. Perhaps that is the problem, she is one of those privileged, self-righteous liberals who now looks down at the rest of us while pretending to be for us. Shame on you! Mrs. Obama, you have some serious explaining to do... Monday, February 18, 2008 MRFT Co-founder Holly Robichaud makes appearance in Sunday's Chicago Tribune.
Commentary McCain an easy GOP test
In 1984,
to the consternation of many conservatives,
Today, many conservatives will face a similar quandary if Sen.
Friday, February 15, 2008 Is this One of those So-called Republicans? Former Republican (and we use that term loosely) and Rhode Island Senator Lincoln Chafee endorsed Democratic candidate Barack Obama yesterday. We surmise that Obama with his message of hope without substance will add this once RINO (Republican In Name Only) to his list of supposed Republicans that are supporting him. MRFT would like to find out who these so-called "Republicans for Obama" really are? Can you help us out??? Please contact us if you know any of these turncoats. We are putting together The "Barack Obama" You Need To Know About: He Isn't The Worst, Just the BIGGEST..." Report in the coming weeks. Please send us any facts you may have about him (pro or con) that we can post as we begin to compile this information for voters in the upcoming primaries and potentially the general election. Back to Mr. Chafee...perhaps if he had been a real Republican in the first place and did not compromise on all of his positions, he might have won his re-election last year. Did they not read the playbook which states that when Republicans go to the left of Democrats they lose? It reminds us of that good old saying, "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything." Voters want a choice! If that choice is between a liberal Republican or a Democrat, they'll choose the Dem 9 times out of 10. Unlike Chafee, whether it's Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, John McCain gives voters a clear choice and the reason why Republicans will win The White House even though this has been dubbed "the year" for Democrats. Week In Review Lots happening at MRFT so we have not had the chance to offer our regular updates on the race for The White House. John McCain all but secured the deal with his victories in the Potomac Primaries on Tuesday as both Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul have been mathematically eliminated. Should they stay in the race? As long as they are not attacking or detracting from McCain, we say, why not? In fact, the continued (much to do about nothing) story of how conservatives are not falling in line with McCain may actually help win over Independents and moderate Democrats come November. We will win The White House again, assuming that conservatives do the right thing and support McCain when the choice between having a Democrat or Republican is on the line. To that end, they should stay in the race as Republicans must remain in the headlines that will now be dominated by the contest between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. A contest which got a heck of a lot more interesting when Obama continued his winning streak by trouncing her on Tuesday as well and taking his first lead in the all-important delegate count. Clinton did win New Mexico yesterday...well, she had won it a while back...it just took a couple of weeks to hand count all the ballots. Clinton's campaign team has had a major shake-up in the wake of recent losses but we still have to wonder when the big guns will come out? For the sake of the Democratic Party, some of us here are hoping she gets a handle on things and fast. There were no three words we could have ever imagined which would make Republicans root for her than the thought of, dare we utter it, a "Barack Obama Presidency" - oh, that is scary. If that does not scare you, then take a trip around the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and see the great job his protégé, Governor Deval Patrick, has done. No thanks! Yesterday, also saw McCain travel back to Massachusetts to accept Mitt Romney's endorsement. The two could not have looked any less thrilled about standing side-by-side with one another. Romney needed to do it looking to 2012 and beyond. It certainly does not hurt McCain either as he begins to unify the Party as we head into November. Looking Forward More Republicans need to be elected in Massachusetts and beyond. In the coming days and weeks, MRFT will begin our efforts to encourage and support such candidates. Check us out after President's Day for additional details! Sunday, February 10, 2008 Mike Huckabee and Barack Obama are the big winners of the weekend contests! Friday, February 8, 2008 Major disappointment! After endorsing Mike Huckabee, James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family re-stated his position that, "Speaking as a private individual, I would not vote for John McCain under any circumstances...Values Voters are not going to carry the water for the Republican Party if it ignores their deeply held convictions and beliefs." Now, we can add Dobson to the growing list of supposed Republicans who are unwilling to support McCain should he become the Republican nominee. What gives? According to Mass Republicans for Truth co-founder Ron Vining, "Speaking as a private individual myself, I am extremely disappointed in the attitude that Mr. Dobson, a person whom I have greatly admired over the years, would go out of his way to harm my Party and its presumptive nominee...as a values voter, I intend to support McCain wholeheartedly and without reservation should he receive the nomination!" MRFT has no problem with individuals or groups endorsing either candidates McCain, Huckabee or Ron Paul while in a contested race. We do, however, take issue with a fellow conservative stating that they would rather sit home and allow the likes of ultra liberals Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton to win in November instead. Thursday, February 7, 2008 BREAKING NEWS During his CPAC address, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney suspends his campaign for The White House..."If this were only about me, I would go on, but...I feel I must now stand aside, for our party and for our country." ~ Mitt Romney Smart move, we applaud your decision! MRFT in the media It would appear that more than a few liked last week's idea that we floated about having Romney exit the race to take on Senator John Kerry... Our friends at Hub Politics found it to be "An Interesting Suggestion..." and the Boston Herald must have as well as it was written about more than once over the past week.
Here’s a not-wholly whimsical idea for a battered Mitt Romney: Bow out of the presidential race and gear up for a run against John Kerry for the Senate this fall. That would give Romney an honorable exit, help the national Republican Party unify behind John McCain earlier and allow the state GOP to field an A-list candidate who could keep Kerry pinned down in Massachusetts. And if Romney got really lucky he could even win the seat. The filing date for the Senate is May 6. That’s plenty of time for Romney to switch and mount a campaign that could keep him alive for a second shot at the presidency in the future, instead of remaining a punching bag in the current race. Just think, two Massachusetts guys afflicted by presidentitis (inflammation of the ego) running against each other. Who’d flip first in this fight of first-class flip-floppers? Romney could break out those ’04 Kerry wind-surfing ads. Kerry could raise him with Romney’s battlefield conversions on abortion, gay rights and Ronald Reagan. Call me crazy, but I think this would be a lot better use of Romney’s millions. His decisive win in the Massachusetts Republican primary shows he’s still at least mildly viable in the Bay State. He still has that charm and a record of some achievements as governor (like health care reform). He’d be better off exchanging broadsides with Kerry than getting called a whiner by Mike Huckabee and being whipped by McCain all over America. Besides, Kerry isn’t exactly the most adored pol in Massachusetts. A stunning 56 percent of voters statewide said it was time “to give someone else a chance” in the Senate, with only 37 percent saying Kerry should run again, in a Suffolk University poll last April. That included independents who, by 62 percent to 31 percent, said it was time for Kerry to go. And just four days ago, when a Kerry trial heat for ’08 was included in a Suffolk poll of likely Democratic presidential primary votes, Kerry had some vexing numbers against Ed O’Reilly, a little-known Gloucester attorney who has vowed to challenge him in the Democratic Senate primary. Sure, Kerry beat O’Reilly 64-11 percent among those registered Democrats polled. But of Democratic-leaning independents polled, 43 percent of the independents said they’re undecided. As for Jim Ogonowski, the Republican hay farmer who lost to Niki Tsongas in the 5th Congressional District and has announced he’s running against Kerry, Romney could brush him aside as easily as he did Jane Swift in 2002. Kerry also angered Massachusetts feminists by endorsing Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton for president. “Lots of women are furious,” said a longtime woman political activist. “Everybody from Jane Doe Voter to women used to writing big checks for Democratic candidates have been calling his office to complain.” Sen. Ted Kennedy endorsed Obama, too, but he isn’t up this year. And though the activist said she (and lots of other women) could never vote for Romney, if enough Democratic and independent women sat out the election as a protest, Kerry’s got a problem. If Romney did run against Kerry, he could ill afford to flip back again on some of the issues that helped him become governor. He’s gotta show some backbone. But his smooth talking, his ample financial resources and the latent discontent with the incumbent could give Romney at least a shot at a comeback. So give a listen Mitt, to those Mass. Republicans for Truth bloggers who say you ought to take on Kerry. You might not win, but at least you wouldn’t totally blow the family inheritance on a quixotic run for president. And you could spend a lot more nights in your own bed instead of sleeping on the floor of an airplane. Article URL: http://www.bostonherald.com/news/opinion/columnists/view.bg?articleid=1071795 Wednesday, February 6, 2008 McCain and Clinton take delegate-rich New York, California and other key states! Looks like MRFT political analyst Ron Vining should get into the prognostication business as he has accurately forecasted the outcome of all the primaries thus far. Though he claims "dumb luck", we say otherwise. Enough gloating, let's get to it... Clinton As predicted, Senator Hillary Clinton was the winner on the Democratic side despite Senator Barack Obama's late surge leading up to Super Tuesday. Winner is a relative term though as she only leads Obama 845 to 765 in the delegate hunt. Clinton may not have taken as many states as Obama did, but she won all but two of the delegate rich ones which is what matters in the overall battle. It would appear that Hillary's endorsement by Robert Kennedy, Jr. (the son of the legend that many, most compare Obama to) was worth far more than his Uncle's as she took the Bay state with votes to spare. The Kennedy Family name has certainly been diminished as Senator Ted Kennedy and Caroline Kennedy's endorsement did little for Obama, who lost Massachusetts 56% to 41% to Clinton. In fact, it was not just some of the Kennedy's that put their eggs in the wrong basket, it would appear that the endorsements of MA Governor Deval Patrick and Senator John Kerry were worth nothing more than lip service to Barack. Does this bode well for Republicans in future races in 2008 and 2010??? McCain On the Republican side, though loosing Massachusetts to former Governor Mitt Romney, Senator John McCain took the most states and the monster share of delegates to take a definitive lead in the race. Perhaps the most crushing blow to Romney's campaign was the fact that former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee took one less state than Romney, ending the night with just one less Super Tuesday delegate.Perhaps the greatest irony coming out of Super Tuesday was the fact that calls from talking heads like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hanitty and Ann Coulter for conservatives to rally around Romney may have backfired. Conservatives ended up rallying around Huckabee, who narrowly lost two states to McCain. Had those two states come in for him, he would have surpassed Romney. Which is the second irony. Romney's campaign called the Huckster nothing more than a spoiler at the start of voting yesterday; however, if one analyzes the vote, it was Mitt who prevented Huckabee from routing McCain. Overall delegate totals at the time of posting; McCain 720, Romney 256, Huckabee 194 and Ron Paul 9. Please note that overall delegate totals for both Republicans and Democrats is TBD as California delegates are awarded by congressional district and this will take some time before fully allocated. Where do we go from here? The Democrats are far from selecting their nominee with critical races coming up later in the week and next. The Republican side is looking like a fata comple with little chance of anyone stopping McCain. Both Huckabee and Romney have stated they are in it to the end. Perhaps the end will be this Thursday's CPAC convention? What about Paul? Though Romney has the money to continue, he must look to future, say runs in 2012 or 2016? MRFT suggested a week ago that Romney exit and take on the now weakened Kerry for Senate and become a GOP hero. If Mitt stays in the race and Huckabee beats him (look at the schedule, it favors Huck) then he looks like a sore loser and ruins his chances of a future run. Whereas; if he withdraws and endorses McCain, he exits the race honorably. While Clinton and Obama viciously battle it out over the next weeks and months, as Republicans, MRFT hopes that Huckabee, Romney and Paul will consider exciting the race and backing McCain. Our divided Party must unify and begin gearing up for what will be a difficult November election to win. Tuesday, February 5, 2008 Today is the day that political junkies have been salivating for - it's Super Tuesday! So, who is it going to be: Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama? John McCain, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee or Ron Paul? On the Democratic side, our money is on Hilary Clinton. Say what you will about the Dems, but they are not stupid. Obama is an unknown and too much of a wildcard to put up against a seasoned, potential nominee like McCain. As for our Republicans, we are betting on John McCain to take all but a small handful of states. Thanks to Party faithful like Bob Dole and Newt Gingrich who came out against Rush Limbaugh's anti-McCain radio program and those of other so-called conservative talking heads, we are confident that McCain will be able to withstand this barrage and emerge as the GOP's nominee. If you live in Massachusetts, we have a few contested and open seats for Republican State Committee. Make sure you check with your local Chairman or the MA GOP for details. One candidate put in a call for support today. His name is Bernard J. Green, 608 Main Street, Medford. Due to a glitch made on the part of the MA Secretary of State's Office, his name does not appear on the ballot. Please write-in "Bernard J. Green" if you are voting in Medford, Somerville, Winchester and Woburn so that he can be re-elected to serve for another four years. If other candidates wish to be mentioned, please contact us and we will do so. Monday, February 4, 2008
Massachusetts Republicans for Truth made it into the paper yesterday:
With friends
like these The Mass. Republicans for Truth Web site made an interesting Romney endorsement this week: They like him so much, they would like him to run for Senate, not president. "Though we admire former Governor Mitt Romney for his spirit and articulation of the issues that so many of us champion, it is time for him to exit this race and focus his determination and wallet on the Massachusetts Senate seat presently held by John F. Kerry," the site suggested. "A bold move like this would make Romney a GOP Party hero." When your supporters are telling you the proudest contribution you can make to your party is to not run for president - well, that sounds like a silver medal to us. Article URL: http://www.bostonherald.com/news/regional/politics/view.bg?articleid=1070915 Super Bowl Sunday, February 3, 2008 Mitt or Huck: Who's more conservative? Massachusetts Republicans for Truth has long wanted to do a candidate report on former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. In particular, we wanted to contrast his record with that of former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. Huckabee is often tagged as being liberal while Romney is often seen as the conservative. Well, which is true?Though no one came forward with The Huckabee Report to contrast with our own The Romney Report, we have decided to share an article by Andrew Longman with you. We are not in the habit of reposting items that come across our inbox, however, "Mitt or Huck: Who's more conservative?" is an oft-asked question, so we figured we would pass this piece along: Mitt or Huck: Who's more conservative? There is a persistent myth that Mike Huckabee is a liberal and Mitt Romney is a conservative. That, my discerning friends, is a lie of convenience assembled by establishment people who own Romney, don't own Huckabee, and who have a lot of money they fear is at stake. Please keep in mind that Mitt Romney has tens of millions of dollars on hand and outspent Huckabee 15 to 1 in Iowa. Romney is supported by the multi-billion dollar business entity known as the Mormon Church. And pointedly, Huckabee has only his principles and a 10-year history as governor to run on; his professional life was made building only spiritual capital. But let's reduce the charge to its root. Huckabee typically gets slammed as a liberal on taxes, pardons and illegal immigration. Do any of the charges stand up, or are they just being shouted through multi-million-dollar megaphones? I can only fit one topic per column, so let's hit the pocketbook. The total tax burden in Arkansas went from 30.3 percent in 1996 when Huckabee took office all the way up to (are you ready?) 30.5 percent in 2006 right before he left. That's right, folks. Under the "big government" guy, the overall tax burden rose by two-tenths of a percent in 10 years. If you meet any Republican politician who can hold a Democratic state legislature to raising the tax burden by only two-tenths in 10 years, make him president, would you? Has anyone recognized if any Republican is to be president, he'd probably have to restrain a Democratic legislature? And experience doing that is a good thing? Forgive me, but two-tenths in 10 years isn't a point of complaint. The guy should get a medal. So how did Willard fare in restraining taxes? Romney, who got himself elected running to the left of Ted Kennedy, did what big-government liberals only hope to do. By the same measure of overall tax burden, and from the same source for information, Romney oversaw an increase from 30.4 percent to a whopping 34.4 percent total tax burden on the People's Republic of Massachusetts. He got over that pesky one-third psychological hurdle! Four percent in four years (all while Bush was president), versus two-tenths in 10 years during Clinton and Bush presidencies. Romney dishes tax burden at a rate 50 times Huckabee. If you've been fed that "Romney is an economic guy" thing by the TV, don't go for it. Somebody is paying the networks good money to say that. You are supposed to believe Mitt is "conservative" and Mike is a "liberal" on taxes. You promise to be obedient, don't you? Please ignore the nice man who wants to eliminate the IRS. He is a hick from the sticks who's really a liberal! Avert your eyes. Nod if you understand. The big "Christians" we purchased signal only establishment candidates: Romney, Giuliani or McCain! Such variety! Don't you know what's good for you? On abortion, the only candidate in the race to support a human life amendment to the Constitution is Huckabee. The right to life group Massachusetts Citizens for Life said Romney was a pro-abort as of March 2005. Romney decided he was pro-life in July 2005. In December 2006, Romney dumped 25 grand on the Massachusetts Citizens for Life, which then re-evaluated him as pro-life. But Willard is equal opportunity – he handed National Review's non-profit 10 grand; National Review then endorsed him. Come to think of it, maybe Romney is some sort of "economic guy." Human Events, in its report on Republicans in Name Only, said of Willard, "Romney was probably the most pro-abortion and pro-gay rights Republican official in the nation for the last decade." Contrast that with "liberal" Huckabee, who is the only candidate in the race to support a constitutional amendment to protect traditional marriage. In 2004, when Arkansas approved the constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage (that Huckabee had pushed for) Huckabee said the amendment was necessary to stop activists looking to rewrite the social code. But the TV media and Rush Limbaugh say Huckabee is a "liberal." Yeah, right. OK. Reading my columns, you know what I mean when I say "conservative." But the TV media and Limbaugh are using the words "conservative" and "liberal" in a different way. Conservative: He who supports the moneyed or adulterous Republican establishment fraternity headed by the Bushes and secular, amoral billionaires. Can also mean someone whom you regard as outstandingly pagan who has nevertheless given you huge sums of money. Liberal: He who isn't part of the secular, moneyed, amoral billionaires. Also, he who has no money but campaigns on traditional morality. Also, anyone who makes you feel uncomfortable because that person is loyal to his wife and/or who preaches against adultery. And by the way, you knew that Romney's Bain Capital is working to take ownership of Clear Channel, right? And that Clear Channel broadcasts Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity? Any appearance of a conflict of interest in turning a Massachusetts liberal into the Reagan-like robot is purely coincidental; opinions of the talent do not necessarily reflect those of ... the owners. Please note that the preceding views expressed by Mr. Longman do not necessarily reflect those of Mass Republicans for Truth or its members. Go Pats, Go! Other than watching ALL the candidates on the Sunday morning talking head programs, today is also the BIG game day. MRFT and its members wish The New England Patriots well and a great victory over the New York Giants! Let's make it 19-0 for some even more history!!! Saturday, February 2, 2008 Automated Calls How many "robo" calls (recorded, automated dials) and polls have you received in the past 72 or so hours? Let's see...our members report hearing from former MA Governor Bill Weld, Mass Citizens for Limited Taxation's Barbara Anderson and Mitt Romney himself, who all called to remind us that Mitt's the guy to vote for on Super Tuesday. Aside from the last one, an interesting duo of support to say the least. Last time we checked, Weld was not supporting Mitt, wonder what changed his mind? And Anderson, whose group opposed the millions of fees (taxes) that Romney raised on Massachusetts taxpayers, was bought off in early 2007 by a donation from Romney (who at the time had still refused to sign the no-new taxes pledge while governor) to CLT - interesting indeed. John McCain got into the game later in the day as another former Massachusetts Governor, Paul Cellucci, called with his pitch. Who's up next, former Acting Governor Jane Swift and former Treasurer Joe Malone??? Don't answer the phone and keep those answering machines turned on so that you won't miss the calls... 2/3 UPDATE: A call from former POW Orson Swindoll and as predicted, one from Swift for McCain came in today. An Ann Romney call also came in on behalf of Mitt on this Super Bowl Sunday...with their five boys, get ready for at least two more calls before Tuesday! 2/4 UPDATE: Mitt made a "personalized" bot call today while McCain visited the state. It's nice for MA Republicans to be receiving so much attention for once. With only 45 min left before midnight, the final pre-election call was placed by a female bot inviting us to join Mitt's "victory" party tomorrow night in Boston. 2/5 UPDATE: Just when you thought the game was over, fellow Mormon and Celtic GM Danny Ainge launched a 3 point shot at the buzzer in support of his friend Mitt. In a few hours we'll see if it went in. We have not seen much TV ads in MA, but 9+ calls is a heck of a lot of dials, and a heck of a lot cheaper... Thursday's Debate While on the subject of those fees...time to do a little fact checking concerning the Simi Valley debate at the Reagan Library. According to www.FactCheck.org: January 31, 2008 Romney commits multiple distortions in the last scheduled GOP debate. Others stumble, too. Summary : With a nationwide wave of nominating contests looming next week, Republican presidential candidates held their last scheduled debate against the backdrop of Ronald Reagan’s retired Air Force One. But we found some of the candidates' facts just won’t fly.

Perhaps the most misleading event of the evening was the repeated sparring between Romney and John McCain over whether or not Romney actually called for a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq. Romney and his handlers have blamed their Florida primary defeat to McCain over his supposedly using "dirty tricks" against them. After the media had some time to analyze this, we offer this summary so you can judge for yourself who was the real dirty trickster. Speaking of the debate, Mass Republicans For Truth felt that CNN host Anderson Cooper was rude to both Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul especially. Both men are STILL competing in this race and deserve to be treated with respect and equal time. Clarification On the same token, we wish to clarify that our 1/30/08 suggestion that the GOP embrace McCain as the nominee and for Romney to exit the race and run for senate was NOT an endorsement by MRFT of either candidate for either seat. At this time, Huckabee, McCain, Paul and Romney are all in this race to win the Republican nomination and we respect the voter's right to choose their own candidate. Our suggestion was based solely on our critical analysis / handicapping of the race and desire for our National and State GOP to win in November 2008. Super Bowl I hope fans in the other 48 states won't mind, but MRFT is endorsing The New England Patriots over the New York Giants in tomorrow's Super Bowl! On that note, we have posted a NEW poll today asking if you think it is proper for either Boston or New York to host a Super Bowl victory parade on an election day? Vote and tell us what you think! Go Pats, Go! The Dems. We keep forgetting to talk about them. Oh well... Wednesday, January 30, 2008 BREAKING NEWS: John Edwards announces his campaign's "suspension" from The White House race... McCain in The White House, Romney in the US Senate, Beatty & Ogonoski in the House? While the Democrats continue their nasty Mike Vick styled dog fight between now and their national convention, the members of Massachusetts Republicans for Truth believe that the time has come for the National and Massachusetts Republican Party to coalesce around Senator John McCain. Though we admire former Governor Mitt Romney for his spirit and articulation of the issues that so many of us champion, it is time for him to exit this race and focus his determination and wallet on the Massachusetts Senate seat presently held by John F. Kerry. Such a decision would also free up current senate candidates Jeff Beatty and Jim Ogonowski to challenge Democrats William Delahunt and Niki Tsongas in rematches for their congressional seats. A bold move like this would make Romney a GOP Party hero as he would quickly unite the divide the commentator Rush Limbaugh frequently talks about while also tying up the Democratic campaign machines of Kerry, Senator Edward M. Kennedy and the entire Massachusetts congressional delegation from supporting their Party’s nominee against McCain in the November General Election. McCain in The White House, Romney in the US Senate, Beatty and Ogonoski in the US House... this is your chance to make good on what was such a crushing defeat for the MA GOP in 2006. Washington IS broken and here is YOUR chance to fix it! Come on Mitt, from a business perspective it makes perfect sense! Mitt Romney for US Senate in 2008 – Run Mitt, Run! Read More: Boston Herald's Lone Republican - Big win for McCain! Romney for Senate??? Tuesday, January 29, 2008 Last week, whether it be John McCain or Mitt Romney, we stated that the victor of the Florida Republican Primary would be the clear frontrunner going into Super Tuesday with the ability to go all the way to the nomination - we stand by that predication this evening! It is the opinion of Mass Republicans For Truth that McCain’s decisive victory over Romney not only places him in the lead in the race for delegates, it gives him substantial momentum going into the February 5th primaries that money simply cannot buy. The McCain momentum began with significant endorsements last week (Retired General Norman Schwarzkopf, FL Senator Mel Martinez and FL Governor Charlie Crist) and will continue tomorrow with that of Rudy Giuliani just prior to the Republican debate at the revered Ronald W. Reagan Presidential Library. Though Mike Huckabee (placed a strong fourth) and Ron Paul remain in the race to fight it out, this can only be good for the McCain campaign as each would draw more-so from Romney. Despite endorsements by talking heads like Rush Limbaugh and our very own Howie Carr, Romney has been unable to lock down enough of the core support of the Republican base that he changed many a position in order to court. The contrast between Romney and McCain could not be starker. It is McCain who has staked out positions, at times unpopular and contrary to the core of the GOP, but rather than change them prior to each election, he has steadfastly stood by them without apology. Based on the outcome of the Florida Primary, perhaps Republican voters (Democrats / Independents as well, as McCain is the only Republican who beats Clinton, Obama and Edwards in head-to-head polling) are more concerned with a leader who is consistent, whether they are right or wrong, than one who's positions simply evolve, lending the appearance that they would tell them anything they wanted to hear. Due to Romney’s vast financial resources and appetite for going negative, the race is far from over. However, it would appear that McCain is much closer to the nomination than Romney was just a few days ago. We will break down the Democratic race, Republican debate as well as post a new poll or two over the next couple of days. Tuesday, January 22, 2008 Should either John McCain or Mitt Romney
win in FL, the race for the nomination could very well be over as their
momentum would be unstoppable. More pressure is riding on McCain as Romney
will still be able to heavily complete on Super Tuesday with or without
the victory. The most weight is on We are all waiting word on Fred Thompson who, with every second we wait, makes it seem all the more likely that he will drop out of the race. Such a decision will have a huge impact on the campaign as his 5-15% of support could make the difference in crowning next Tuesday's victor. Ron Paul appears to have the most ardent of supporters both on the ground and especially on the Web. We knew we would take flack from them with our decision to exclude both Paul and Thompson from our latest poll. Though each candidate has faired well in on-line polling, it is not reflected in the latest FL polling from all major sources. Paul and Thompson have been included in past polls and will be included in future polls for Super Tuesday where appropriate. Please understand that we are trying to gauge support for the FL primary at this time and we mean no disrespect to the candidates in question or to their supporters. On the Democratic side, South Carolina is critical in
their race for the Oval Office. If Sunday, January 20, 2008 John McCain edged out (33% vs. 30%) Mike Huckabee for a first place win in SC and Fred Thompson surged past Mitt Romney (16% vs. 15%) for the third spot. In NV, Romney took the contest in a landslide as none of the other candidates campaigned in the state. Duncan Hunter announced his withdrawal from the race and one has to wonder if and when others will follow. If you are keeping score, the GOP still does not have a true frontrunner. Romney is ahead in the delegate count, yet it is McCain who has now won two prestige contests and should have the momentum going into the January 29th, Florida primary. What's up next? The January 24th, FL debate at 9 pm on MSNBC. This delegate-rich winner-take-all primary has high stakes for all involved. If Rudy Giuliani could put a win together here, he will lead the pack in one victory; whereas, a McCain victory would have Romney getting tossed around in his wake going into Super Tuesday. While on the topic of Florida, an URGENT call for help came into our email box this week, so we figured we would repost it below. Since the MA Courts, Legislature and Governor Romney paved the way for gay marriage in our state, we are happy to support the efforts of those in other states, like FL, who are working to oppose it. "Florida Marriage Amendment in Danger of Not Making 2008
Ballot (Tallahassee, FL) Monday January, 14, 2008.
Leaders of
Florida4Marriage.org declared a state of "constitutional emergency" today
when they learned from Division of Elections officials that due to an "audit"
ordered by the Division, the Florida Marriage Protection Amendment fell short by
some 30,000 petitions. The state constitutional amendment seeks to define
marriage as the union of one man and one woman and would prohibit polygamy,
group marriage, and same sex marriages in Florida. # # # Action Steps:
On other fronts, Do we want real change or the right experience in our next leader? MRFT prefers the right experience. This hilarious clip on YouTube shows just how over used "change" has been used in this race.
Friday, January 18, 2008 On the eve of the Nevada Democratic / Republican Caucus and the Republican South Carolina Primary, tensions are getting quite high on both sides. Earlier this week, Mitt Romney crudely snubbed John McCain when he began his Michigan Primary victory speech before McCain had finished his. This forced the news media to break away to cover Romney. Though loosing Michigan, Mike Huckabee and Romney must feel McCain is the man to beat as both have skewered him with negative push polls, television and radio ads. Unconscionable are the attacks leveled at McCain's status as a POW. Shame on the whoever the third party is who produced and the candidate who indirectly financed such garbage! As bad as it may be on the Republican side, the gloves are off on the Democratic side with Barack Obama taking the role of a stand-up comedian at his latest rally, aggressively mocking both John Edwards and Hillary Clinton. While also benefiting from an all Spanish-language ad supporting Obama which harshly slams Clinton. So bad in fact, that even Edwards has denounced it. At the same time, Clinton has ridiculed Obama for his remarks which reflected on his new found love for our hero, Ronald Reagan. We know Obama is inexperienced, but the November General Election is months away, save the pandering, should you make it till then. So, who's going to win? Romney will take Nevada as it is not being challenged by the other Republicans. As for South Carolina? McCain will win and become the first true frontrunner of the race. Huckabee will place second and Fred Thompson will surge to the third spot with Romney placing fourth. If not, Thompson's campaign is over. The Democratic race is a toss up even though Obama has a sizable lead in the polls. Our prediction, in a shocker, Nevada Caucus goers will give Clinton the victory with Edwards placing third. We have been wrong before, guess we will see when the results are in tomorrow night... On to other political news, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick has been taking a beating for his steadfast support of offering in-state tuition to illegal aliens. Give it up Governor! The MA GOP have set up a petition to oppose this, click this link, http://www.MassGOP.com/GetActive/Petition.aspx to sign up. Also in our state, a new group, www.MassRepublicanMunicipalCoalition.org, is having its first ever event on Wednesday, check it out. Meanwhile, we applaud President George Bush's proposal to implement new tax cuts, while also returning as much as $800 per taxpayer as part of an economic stimulus package. Though we hate to see the deficit increase, something must be done to strengthen the ailing economy. We hope that Congress will clamp down and reduce spending to offset any such package when it is offered. Tuesday, January 15, 2008 In his own words, if he couldn't win Michigan, he couldn't win anywhere... and luckily for Mitt Romney and his supports, he pulled out victory in the automotive state. John McCain came in second with Mike Huckabee a somewhat distant third. It is unlikely that Romney will have momentum going into South Carolina's primary this Saturday, so the fight will truly be between Huckabee and McCain who should have pulled out a Michigan victory. Watching McCain's campaign these past seven days has been grueling, as you could feel it slipping away as he was unable to properly present an economic message that the voters could connect with. Huckabee's had it since before Iowa and Romney was quick to adapt his in the wake of the New Hampshire defeat. Will Fred Thomson be a factor in South Carolina or the Florida contest at the end of this month? Will Rudy Giuliani's gamble on the winner-take-all Florida primary put him back in the game before it's too late? With each of the three frontrunners having won a major contest, this race is truly up for grabs. Romney is ahead as of tonight, but the winner of South Carolina will be the first to clearly take the lead going into both the Florida Primary and the 22 states up for the taking on the all-important, February 5th, Super Tuesday... REMINDER: Massachusetts voters must register to vote by tomorrow, January 16th, if they wish to participate in the Commonwealth's Super Tuesday Presidential Primary. Friday, January 11, 2008 He's alive! It took some time, but Fred Thompson finally showed signs that he is interested in being President by a stellar performance in last night's Republican debate! This revival comes too late to have an impact on Michigan, but will it translate to poll movement in South Carolina? For the record, we at MRFT believe that it was wrong for Fox News to have excluded Duncan Hunter from the prior two debates. Though he is lagging in most polls and primary contests he does have more delegates than other candidates who have been allowed to participate. Wednesday, January 9, 2008 New Hampshire voters offered up a few surprises last night! Republican John McCain's recent surge handed Mitt Romney a substantial defeat (being the former Gov. of neighboring MA and having spent more that the whole field combined). Mike Huckabee's Iowa bounce moved him up from the back of the pack to third place with Rudy Giuliani, Ron Paul, Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter fighting for the bottom slots respectively. On the Democratic side, Barack Obama's supposed landslide was anything but with Hillary Clinton remaining in the lead all night as the results were coming in. It was almost priceless watching the talking heads on TV choke as they were unwilling to call her the winner with more than 65% of results in (yet called it for McCain when only 18% were in). John Edwards finished a distant third, followed by Bill Richardson, Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel. Senator John Kerry (D-MA) will endorse Obama tomorrow in what is a slap in the face to both Edwards (former running mate in '04) and Clinton (Bill Clinton was a major factor in Kerry's re-election over Bill Weld in '96). Richardson will announce his departure from the race tomorrow as well. If Edwards cannot win in South Carolina next week, his campaign will soon be over. If that should occur then the two Democratic titans of '08 will be battling it out head to head in Nevada and on Feb 5th's Super Tuesday. As for the Republicans, Romney will be pulling all his troops and money out of South Carolina and putting them into Michigan for next Tuesday's primary. Like New Hampshire, Romney has a lot riding on Michigan (his father was Gov. there and it was also his home state at one time). With McCain leading in the polls by 9%, if Romney loses there and is conceding South Carolina (to either McCain or Huckabee as Giuliani is also pulling out also) he runs the risk of being 1 for 5 going into Super Tuesday. Though Romney will have the most money going into Super Tuesday - McCain, followed by Huckabee will possibly have the momentum. And it is momentum that will win primaries in a compressed schedule like the one we have this cycle. We are not counting Romney out, but he cannot win on Super Tuesday if Wyoming is his only "gold medal" going into the big dance. Be sure to watch the South Carolina Republican debate on Fox News tomorrow night at 9 pm as one's performance could make or break the outcome of this race... We will post more post NH analysis, a new poll as well as some other issues that have come up here in MA in the coming days. Tuesday , January 8, 2008So, who's got BIG MO and who doesn't? Dixville Notch, New Hampshire is home of the first balloting (midnight) in the granite state on presidential primary day and John McCain won with 4 votes, Mitt Romney garnered 2 votes and Rudy Giuliani placed third with 1 vote. Mike Huckabee, Duncan Hunter, Ron Paul and Fred Thompson received 0. On the Democratic side, Barack Obama won with a landslide, taking 7 votes compared with 2 for John Edwards, 1 for Bill Richardson and 0 for Hillary Clinton, Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich.Though this should not be seen as a predictor of tonight's outcome...based on the latest polling, it would seem that Obama has the momentum and will win by 10 or more points*, while Romney (thanks to a strong debate performance on Sunday) and McCain will likely be in a nail biter - with McCain winning by 2 or 3 points. Maybe our analysis will be right or maybe it will be completely wrong... MRFT will break it all down tomorrow morning. Good luck to all the candidates and their supporters! *Polls can be wrong and thus we we throw out a cautionary note, a FOX poll asked NH Dems who was most qualified to lead and Clinton was first, followed by Richardson and Edwards with Obama last, this could impact the actual primary vote results significantly. Sunday, January 6, 2008 The Wyoming Republican Party held their presidential
caucus last night with
Mitt Romney
scoring eight of the 12 delegates,
Fred Thompson
taking three
The news wasn't so good coming out of the ABC NEWS / FACEBOOK NH debate that Hunter was excluded from, Thompson was too sedate and Romney was dissected by and began cracking before his rivals. Perhaps the best line of the night was delivered by John McCain, "Governor Romney, we disagree on a lot of issues, but you are the candidate of change." Mike Huckabee was warm and friendly, but did not appear to gain much ground. The same could also be said of Rudy Giuliani and Ron Paul who both performed well, but were not the focus of the forum. The Democrat's debate was the first to feature only four candidates. This narrowed field allowed voters the chance to actually hear Bill Richardson. Though he too performed well, he was not the center of the tag-team that John Edwards and Barack Obama smacked down onto Hillary Clinton. The fickle media can't fawn enough over the Barack phenomenon of which they are also fueling. This ridiculous "change vs. experience" debate has got to go. Massachusetts Republicans For Truth certainly isn't endorsing Clinton, but wake up America, an exchange student has more foreign policy experience than Obama does. We long for the days when Joe Biden was still in this race... Thankfully, big media Dems like MSNBC's Chris Matthews have begun questioning whether Obama has been properly vetted in this compressed process. If, somehow you missed the jumbo sized logo on the home page or above, Mass Republicans For Truth is now on facebook, check us out by clicking on this link: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=8438396802 We have posted several discussion questions and invite you to comment. Be sure to watch tonight's final Republican debate on FOX NEWS before the NH Primary. Saturday, January 5, 2008 In case you missed it on the home page, please don't forget to vote in our new poll, posted today, asking: "If the New Hampshire Republican Primary were held today, who would YOU vote for?" Be sure to watch tonight's Democrat / Republican ABC NEWS debate and tomorrow's Republican debate on FOX NEWS. The debates are truly do or die time for both Clinton and Romney...as well as offer the potential chance for either McCain or Huckabee and Obama to break out. How the independents break on January 8th will determine the fates of both parties - will they pull ballots for McCain and put the second nail in Romney's coffin or will they go for Obama and put Clinton on the ropes??? It's anyone's guess as the polling is quite fluid... Thursday, January 3, 2008 Goodbye Iowa, hello New Hampshire... Iowa caucus goers in both political parties delivered two major upsets! Though outspent 15-1, Republican Mike Huckabee trounced Mitt Romney 34% to 25% with Fred Thompson edging out John McCain by a few votes for a tied 13% third place finish! Ron Paul was not too far behind with 10%, while Rudy Giuliani earned 3% and Duncan Hunter received 515 votes which translates into 0% of the delegates. On the Democrat side, Barack Obama steamrolled, with 38% of the vote, over both John Edwards and Hillary Clinton who are virtually tied for third with 29% and 28% respectively. Bill Richardson came in fourth with 2%, while both Joe Biden and Chris Dodd announced their departure from the race. Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich each received 0 votes and thus 0% of the vote and should soon be following in their footsteps. It will be great to be in Massachusetts for the front row seat of negative TV ads which will most likely start running tomorrow...this Saturday's ABC / WMUR-TV / Facebook debate should also prove interesting... Due to ABC News debate criteria agreed to by the candidates; Hunter, Gravel and Kucinich will not be allowed to participate in the January 5th forums. Friday, December 29, 2007 Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all our visitors! In case you missed it on the home page, please don't forget to vote in our new poll, posted today, asking, "If the Iowa Caucus were held today, who would YOU vote for?". This election season would make even the casual political observer like a child on Christmas morning...a lot has transpired in the last 60 or so days since MRFT last updated the News page, so let's get straight to it - Sam Brownback drops out and endorses John McCain, Rudy Giuliani whose anemic campaign (at least in the more conservative, first round Primary states) is stuck in the mud, Mike Huckabee surges past all his rivals only to fall back a bit, Duncan Hunter holds the strongest, most reasonable plan for Iraq, but isn't registering in the polls, John McCain is endorsed by Senator Joe Lieberman (I), possibly poised to repeat his "comeback adult" feat with polling showing him climbing upward as New Hampshire nears, Ron Paul raises an insane amount of money from younger, on-line donors while going nowhere, Mitt Romney remains at the top, but continues to be dogged by inconsistencies in his statements and positions with his once strong lead softening in Iowa (Huckabee now in first place) and in New Hampshire (McCain surging), anti-illegal immigration stalwart Tom Tancredo drops out and endorses Romney (more so out of spite for Huckabee than his belief that Mitt is good on the issue), Fred Thompson, though looking and sometimes sounding the part, just isn't catching on and in case you didn't know it, Alan Keyes is running too, but not in every state.Fourteen debates have been held so far with the best and most spirited of the season sponsored by CNN / YouTube on 11/28/07, the worst and least compelling by The Des Moines Register / Iowa Public Television on 12/12/07 and the most appalling by Univision on 12/9/07, as it was broadcast exclusively in Spanish. Tancredo was the only candidate with the guts to refuse to participate. The premise of that debate was insane - as one must fluently speak English to be a citizen and the have right to vote! Sadly, Giuliani, Huckabee, McCain, Paul, Romney and Thompson's participation demonstrates that Republicans, like the Democrats, lack the courage to properly address border security, benefits being granted to illegals and making English the official language of the United States. John Edwards appears done though he is polling well in Iowa, so will it be Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama? Today's post does not even begin to touch upon the Democrats...we'll leave that to them to sort out over the next few weeks and then take a stab at it. The two links below contain notable information related to the debate and primary schedules for both parties: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republican_presidential_debates,_2008 http://politics.nytimes.com/election-guide/2008/primaries/republicanprimaries/index.html Just two days after the 1/3/08, Iowa Caucus, the Republican field of contenders will have one two opportunities to make their case during the ABC / WMUR-TV / Facebook debate and the following day's FOX NEWS debate before the 1/8/08, first in the Nation, New Hampshire Primary - let's hope it is a lively one as the fate of our Nation and the free world may rest on the outcome of the 2008 General Election. A word of note, a blog or related features will be integrated into this site in 2008 to allow the thousands of visitors who stop by each week to participate and more easily expand the issue-oriented discussion. We look forward to your threads and comments! On behalf of everyone at Massachusetts Republicans for Truth, we hope you have a safe and Happy New Year! Monday, October 22, 20007 A new poll has been posted to gauge your opinion / thoughts on who won last night's highly spirited Fox News debate from Orlando. From a truth in advertising perspective it was good to finally see the candidates begin to openly call each other out on inconsistencies of their respective backgrounds / positions on issues. Heralding from Massachusetts...we wish that the former Governor Mitt Romney would stop lying about his supposedly never raising taxes in our state! In every debate he makes this declaration, yet in our book, his raising just about every fee possible in the Commonwealth is tantamount to raising taxes. Perhaps the other candidates will read our Romney Report on Taxes and correct this falsity. Another item which really gets our members was the former Governor's diatribe on gay marriage last evening. The other 49 states have Romney alone to thank for this Pandora's box of an issue. It was by his own executive order, whereby he enabled the inappropriate ruling of the MA Supreme Judicial Court, by his voluntary issuance of new same-sex marriage licenses to the city / town clerks. If Romney truly believed that marriage was an exclusive sacrament between a man and a woman, then he should have used his executive power (which he touted he had as Governor over John McCain's experience as a Senator) to block the Court's ruling. But he didn't... Monday, October 15, 20007 The citizens of the MA 5th Congressional District have a very important decision on their hands this Tuesday. Republican candidate Jim Ogonowski faces Democrat Niki Tsongas and three, 3rd party candidates in the October 16th special election. It should be obvious based on the debates, media coverage and the onslaught of negative, special interest ads being run on behalf of one candidate as to which candidate is good on the issues that MRFT holds so dear. Please be certain to cast your vote in this critical special election on Tuesday!
Jim Ogonowski TV AD gives a good summary of his background.
Jim Ogonowski TV AD gives a good summary of his background / issues.
Does Niki Tsongas truly believe that illegal aliens are unintentional American citizens?
MRFT Didn't realize that it was the Govt's job to provide health care but we guess Niki does?
Sorry Niki, a timetable for withdrawal is nothing more than a signal of retreat to Al Qaeda. We must win in Iraq to stabilize the region and remain safe at home! Tuesday, October 9, 20007 Tonight from Michigan, MSNBC will host the sixth 2008 Republican Presidential debate. This is the first debate to feature Fred Thompson and also the first debate to feature what should be the final field of hopefuls now that Newt Gingrich has announced that he will not be entering the race. Please return to our home page tomorrow when we will feature a new poll asking who you thought won tonight's debate. Wednesday, October 3, 2007Keep in mind that we do not look for these...people from Massachusetts and all over the country send us emails with links, photos, documents, etc, etc...then badger us till we post them. By popular demand, here is yet another YouTube whammy, this time from WBZ-TV's political analyst Jon Keller:
Wednesday, September 19, 2007 YouTube is certainly becoming one of the new frontiers in political campaigns from Hilary's campaign announcement to "Obama Girl" and perhaps even more powerfully, the ability of news segments to be recycled and seen across the country. Check out Boston's WFXT-25 reporter Joe Battenfeld taking on Mitt Romney and his request for supporter-based Web ad ideas:
Tuesday, September 18, 20007 In addition to being a political analyst on FOX News and an occasional host on WRKO, Tuesday Associates founder and MRFT co-founder Holly Robichaud has a weekly feature which appears every Monday in

titled "The Lone Republican" - in conjunction with her column, a new blog has
been posted.
